The pastels are all made by hand using a combination of pigment, special water-resoluble binder and selected additives, to gain a uniform consistency to each pastel stick. The pastels are dried naturally and slowly in air to reduce shrinkage and avoid cracking; however there is a variety of sizing which is a direct consequence of the different characteristics of the individual pigments as they lose moisture when drying. This does not affect the colour quality but confirms that this is a very special product, something that needs time and patience to achieve.
