MABEF is a company started in 1948. It’s, therefore, more than 60 years that MABEF have been producing and selling wooden articles for artists. This long permanence in the market is due to the fairness that has always characterized MABEF’s competitive prices, and product made to satisfy the artists needs of solidity, functionality and duration. In addition, the brand loyalty of consumers during the time, made a significant contribution to the success of Mabef. Anybody who was satisfied with a MABEF product, will be buying again a MABEF product!
Raw material
The material used is solid Beechwood coming from certified geographical areas and from woods where reforestation is under control of local regulations and guaranteed by forestry commission (Mabef are on the way to obtain certification). In this way, the wood used is constantly replaced.
The Beechwood is extremely resistant and long-lasting and will accompany us throughout our life and over. Its beauty improves with the passing of time. It is 100% recyclable and ecological. All the wooden scraps, shavings and saw dust are collected, broken up and through a very elaborate process, transformed in “pellets”, an ecological fuel, for heating all the factories and offices, which, while burning, releases carbon dioxide in quantities equal to those previously absorbed by the living plant.

Studio Easels
Sometimes referred to as H-frame easels, this range includes eleven models, ten made of oiled beech and one made of walnut-lacquered beech. Studio easels are very solid and stable and are meant for indoor use, especially by professionals; they are often used as supports in art galleries and museums. Very large canvasses can be used on the models in this range: from cm. 0-116 to cm. 0-235 in height.
Lyra Easels
Mabef make five models of lyre easels, sometimes referred to as A-Frame easels, all made of oiled beech. Their slim, elegant shape makes them perfectly suited for use in windows displays. Easy to handle, these don't take up much room; they are used indoors with canvasses from cm. 120 to cm. 0-135.
Easel Sketch Boxes
This range consists of three oil beech models which permit the artist to keep everything needed for painting inside the easel. They are ideal for oil or water-colour painting indoors or outdoors, are highly functional and very stable. They can be used with canvasses from 0-77 to 0-87 in height.
Field Easels
Easels for painting Plein Air, or as suggested out in the field. Oiled beech folding easels are easy to handle and fold up, lightweight, and yet very stable. They are suitable for oil or watercolour painting indoors and outdoors. Being particularly lightweight, they can also be used in window displays. They can be used with canvasses from cm. 0-110 to cm. 0-200 in height.
