Winsor & Newton has always been core to the world of art materials. Their pledge of manufacturing 'The World’s Finest Artist’ Materials' is well founded. Their artist oil and artist water colours out sell all others in the UK and both have an excellent reputation.
The company was founded in 1832, the founders, Henry Newton and William Winsor were involved with the leading artists of their time - J.M.W Turner for example - and to this day, they strive to keep up with the latest developments in the art world and take an active interest in what artists say.
Their reputation is built on the quality and reliability of products, combined with continual product development, improvement and innovation. The production of colour was recently moved to France and although it would be difficult to claim that paint remains British, the paint certainly remains Britain's favourite.
