Nitram large sizes of charcoal have arrived! Particularly for the artist who works in the large.
All three sizes are 152 mm (6″) long and sold singly.
Maxi Bâton de Saule (40mm round stick)
Demi Bâton de Saule (25mm dia round stick)
Bloc de Saule (15x46mm rectangular block)
Nitram is considered to be the highest quality charcoal made. It is unique because it is made using an historical method that no one else uses today.
It has been described as working like willow charcoal that is leaning towards compressed charcoal. Like willow but with more control because it can be sharpened to a fine point, comes in different hardnesses and remains easy to erase. It creates less dust than willow charcoal or compressed charcoals. I found it made a lovely deep black.

To announce their new product Nitram has sent out this fun picture and explanation:
“Our Mennonite production manager Peter has a wonderful sense of humor –
he made this extra large Nitram just for the fun of it.
Seen here is Karen, our statuesque 😉 web guru, posed with it for
a size comparison.
I wonder if this is a Guinness book of records contender for the largest piece of art charcoal ever!”
