“At the fringes of language is the ordinary human life it supports. No need for queer entities produced ad hoc to allay our philosophical embarrassment. Media need not be physical – as is the case with conceptual art. Yet, whilst conceptual art emerges from visual art, it has now come to fulfil its potential as an art kind in itself. But each art in itself has edges; and can learn from what lies just beyond those edges. Artists are foragers. They notoriously borrow and steal. We are used to them borrowing from other artists in the same art kind, but less used to them stealing from the street or borrowing from non-artistic sources.
The work of the artists who contribute to this show, curated by Gail Olding, is diverse in its nature and calls upon different strands of connection to art kinds and to their non-art relatives. However, each is committed to the fineness of art and the combination of work in this ‘arcade’ is a celebration of that diversity.”
Artists: Gail Olding, Gianluca Pisano, Pamela Gerrie, Dom Chastney, Edward Winters, Jane Price, Olivia Davis, Graeme Messer, Bettina Stuurman, Charlie Dillon.

Katharina is an accomplished potter, working in porcelain, producing striking vessels with a distinctive style. She is interested in developing different colours and mark making in her works, with a strong visual language.

Drawn from Nature
March 12 – May 7, 2015
Jo Tunmer‘s ‘Glimpses’ solarplate collection is currently on display alongside two other Cambridge-based printmakers: Susie Turner and Melanie Goemans.
“Taking nature as their inspiration, Jo Tunmer, Susie Turner and Melanie Goemans have created beautiful, delicate etchings using subtly different techniques. Melanie chose to respond to the ban on flowers in hospital, Susie captures the ever-changing natural landscape and Jo’s prints represent walks she has taken in this country and Southern India. The exhibition is being held in our gallery on the corridor between the Concourse and Rosie Wards.”
