Breaking Borders 2 Art Exhibition and Auction
28 May – 5 June 2016. The auction will take place on the last day.
Artists and activists involved with Waltham Forest Stand Up to Racism and Convoy to Calais are organising an art auction in aid of Care4Calais and Refugee Community Kitchen. The auction will take place on the last day of the exhibition 5th June, from 1pm. As well as the auction there will be performances, food, talks and art events. If you can’t get there you can make an online bid.

A new exhibition by Yayoi Kusama. Spanning Victoria Miro Gallery’s three locations and waterside garden, the exhibition features new paintings, pumpkin sculptures, and mirror rooms, all made especially for this presentation. This is the artist’s most extensive exhibition at the gallery to date, and it is the first time mirror rooms have gone on view in London since Kusama’s major retrospective at Tate Modern in 2012.

The Summer Exhibition

The final of five pop-up exhibition by Bread and Jam. The venue is an empty house not updated since the 1970s and spread over three floors and will feature works by more than 15 artists, including practical lessons on how to snare a rabbit, a live beat box party performance, as well as a listening booth curated by Please Stand By. Artists include: Michael Archer, Violeta Paez Armando, Minnie Casey, Kristin Fredricksson, Harriet Hill, Tom James, Paul O’Kane, Anna Liber-Lewis, Lucy May, Matt Moser-Clark, Bada Song, Nils Alex Tabeling, Rob Welch and Tom Woolner. Artists and designers Jeni Burnell and Patrick Stimpson have creates a full-size shed in the gallery. For this exhibition, they worked with art and architecture students from Oxford Brookes University to develop the whimsical sheds that will form part of the architectural model inside, and ran a planting workshop with Crisis members to create the green roof. During the exhibition, seven makers in residence will transform the shed into a ‘making space’, a place where visitors can meet makers and learn from them in workshops in basket making, weaving, wirework, illustration, woodwork and more.
