Using all the colours of Turner Acryl Gouache, Hideto Yagi created paintings containing every tube!
Turner Colour Works wanted to create an advert to speak for their company and thought it should feature the wide range of colours, showing their brilliance and the unique over-painting feature of Turner Acryl Gouache.
Hideto Yagi came up with the idea of using all 216 Acryl Gouache colours to create paintings of the 216 tubes of paint, emphasizing the Turner colour vividness and selection of hues. To add a surprise to the image the four paintings that were painted by Mr. Yagi were photographed with a tube of the Turner paint sitting on top of the painting surface, so the viewer would realise how accurate the paintings are and how closely the colours match the tubes.
They used these ‘Paintings of Paints’ in adverts on TV, in magazines, on posters and in other media as well as in the packaging design. The paintings were also shown in a number of gallery exhibitions. The paintings and design idea went on to win two prizes: the gold prize at the One Show 2016 in the Design category and the Wood Pencil at the D&AD show.
