The painting is secured from the back and looks as if it is floating with a shadow line created in the gap between the canvas and the frame. This is a popular style of framing at the moment. We have two depths of sizes for standard or deep canvases.

You can leave the wood just as it is or add a coloured wax finish of your choice. They come with all the fittings for securing your canvas in the frame and hanging. To fit many popular canvas sizes: 30x30cm to 50x60cm.

These beautiful ready-made frames are constructed from tulipwood (so called because the flowers of the tree strongly resemble tulips). The wood is hard and smooth grained with long thin grey fibres. A pale olive in colour, these frames are attractive when left unfinished or finished in just a clear wax. If you wish to colour the frames we recommend a liming wax finish as it blends best with the wood. The tulip wood frames stain black easily and can be painted white or washed in a light colour. Whilst it is possible to give Jackson’s Ready-Made Frames dark stain such as a ‘mahogany’ finish, it is not recommended, as the resulting appearance is uneven and the fine grey lines that gives the tulipwood its character are obscured.

UPDATE 2021:
Jackson’s Tray Float Frames are now made from Obeche wood and will provide a beautiful final touch to any artwork. Designed to have a 5mm shadow between the canvas and the inner edge of the face, this allows you to see the edge of the canvas and provides a floating effect. The white frames can be left white or painted whatever colour best suits the work.

This frame is designed to accompany Jackson’s premium 19mm stretched canvases, but can also be used for any appropriately sized canvas or panel such as Belle Arti Gallery, Oil Primed Linen or universal primed linen canvas. Alternative sizes available through our bespoke frame builder.

The frame has pre drilled countersunk screw holes for attaching the canvas into the frame. Each purchase includes D rings, cord and screws to hang your frame either landscape or portrait.

The frames are available in two depths, one for standard canvases and another for deep canvases.

All frames are supplied fully constructed, with pre-drilled and counter sunk holes at the back ready for you to attach the canvas to the stretcher bars using the provided screws.
