This is perfect for the job. Such a handy little device to have in your pocket when out and about sketching or painting. It has a few of the standard aspect ratios marked on the frame but in order for this to be of use as a reference they would need to include a greater range. I was thinking of marking some more sizes onto the frame myself but then I discovered an easier way to use it; simply hold up the view finder in front the canvas / panel you are using and adjust it until it matches the shape exactly, then hold the viewfinder up to the subject you are painting and adjust the size of the subject within the frame.
