Solid, side-grain magnolia woodblock made in Japan. These blocks are quite soft to cut and the grain can be cut across without difficulty. The surface of the wood is smooth making them ideal for areas of solid colour. These 10mm solid side-grain blocks are nice and thick, so both sides can be carved.
To prepare for cutting we advise that you give the surface a quick sanding along the grain with a fine 1000 grit paper. If you do wish to use both sides please ensure you protect the underside from getting dented or scratched.You can find block and plate polishing papers here.
