This set includes a Continuous Fine Mist Sprayer, made by Flarisol, and a bottle of Spectrafix, a natural milk casein fixative that works on all papers and has been endorsed by professional artists all across America. Based on an antique recipe used by Degas himself, this is the perfect fixative for pastel, charcoal, gouache and watercolour as well as conte crayon, pencil, casein and tempera. Its workable matt finish allows deep layering with minimal colour shift. It is safe for use indoors or in the classroom as there is no odour or toxic fumes. Spectrafix conforms to ASTM D-4236 regulations. Being 100% archival means there is no dulling of colour or yellowing over time.

After you pour the Spectrafix into the spray bottle you can use it to produce an even and consistent coverage of fixative without the use of toxic propellants.

Unlike normal pump spray bottles the Continuous Fine Mist Sprayer continues to produce a fine spray after the plunger has been released. This means you avoid the inconsistencies that happen when using most non-toxic spray fixatives, where there is normally a surge when the head is being refilled or a depletion as that spray is ending. The Continuous Fine Mist Sprayer is a great alternative to airbrush application giving you the possibility to have a fine, even coverage.

To use the Continuous Fine Mist Sprayer, first prime it by pulling the trigger a few times away from the surface you wish to cover to fill the barrel and then go over the surface moving from side to side, over the edges, while continuing to press down on the trigger every second or so.
