Bought these to try this brand of pastels out as I heard about how wonderful they are to work with. For a sampling of portrait colors, these pastels do remarkable work. I used them on the Art Spectrum Color Fix Pastel Paper and had so much fun with these pastels, as the extra soft pigments seemed to melt together on the page, and were so easily blended into each other to create flawless transitions into areas of light. I have already ordered some more of these pastels as I can't wait to try more of them out. These are not for beginners, as they are pretty spendy... but for the person who is an emerging or established artist, these will be well worth your investment. I love that they are rectangular, and have the flat edges already established. It allowed me to instantly achieve a pretty high level of detail in the eyelashes and the profile of the face. Can't say enough positive things about these pastels!
