Rollers & Brayers
Choose from a selection of natural or firm synthetic rollers and brayers. Suitable for use with both oil and water-based printing inks. Softer rollers are ideal for inking uneven surfaces, while firmer options are preferable for blocks and plates.
Relief Printing: Choosing Rollers & Brayers
Choosing your roller or brayer is dependent on many things, including budget, but all of the rollers are suitable for use with both oil and water-based printing inks.
You may want a softer roller for applying ink to blocks with uneven surfaces, to capture the smallest detail. Or, you might prefer a firmer roller for inking blocks and plates carrying fine lines that you don't want ink pushing into.
When deciding on the size of your roller, you will want to consider the dimensions of your work. Often a roller slightly wider than your block is advisable. Remember that a wider diameter roller or brayer will carry more ink and require less rolling to cover your block.
