PrimaTek Watercolors are made from minerals, often semi precious minerals, that have been ground into pigments, mixed with gum arabic (the binder) and milled into PrimaTek Watercolors. The first was Lapis Lazuli Genuine in 1998, since then, many more have been added such as Amethyst Genuine, Piemontite Genuine and Serpentine Genuine. Most of these colors have wonderful granulating effects that some artists have called 'magical'.
This is a 5ml tube of Daniel Smith Primatek Watercolor Paint in Green Apatite Genuine.

A very interesting and fun color, obviously not apt for clean and perfect washes but great for rough textures and painting trees, bushes, and similar subjects. Great option for painters that are more in the experimental side.

This and the Lunar Blue is my first DS experience. I like the granulation properties of this colour, but its not as beautiful as I'd imagined, having heard several famous artists rave about them. So far I'm not unduly impressed by DS, especially since they cost so much more than other brands, but dont seem to stand out enough to justify the cost.
