Info

Daniel Smith Watercolor Sticks offer remarkably rich, vibrant color and the same pure artists' pigments as their Extra Fine Watercolor Paint Tubes. They are very portable and long lasting and they make excellent on-the-go painting tools. Each stick is packed with pure pigment and produces vibrant, strong color when wet - or use them dry to build texture. The sticks can also be used like a traditional pan color. Try wetting your watercolor brush and lifting color directly from the surface of the stick!

Each stick offers exceptional value as a stick is equivalent to 3 whole pans of watercolor. The sticks can be cut down and inserted into empty half pans to use as you would a traditional pan watercolor. All the sticks are the same price and even includes a selection of PrimaTek colors.

Review

I purchased 5 Daniel Smith watercolour sticks recently from Jacksons. The colours I bought were French Ultramarine, Burnt Sienna, Yellow Ochre, Aureolin, and Serpentine Genuine. I was very impressed with them. The colour is both strong and vibrant. I soon found through experimentation that the sticks are great for producing textures and dry brush effects, espiecially on not, or rough surfaced papers. You can also use them like watercolour pans, and they also work well for wet on wet techniques. I would certainly recommend Daniel Smith watercolour sticks to any watercolourist.
