Very good value and good quality.

I was surprised by how small these were but the real surprise was how nice they are in action. They're harder than some of the big brands that I have had a quick try of but not so hard as to be, you know, a hard pastel and they lay down nicely. And the colours really are quite good. I am sure they are dull compared to Schmincke or Unison but as somebody giving pastels a go for the first time I was very pleased with the strength of the pigment. What's a real bonus is the inclusion of two harder pastels (one white, one black) on top of the 64 softies. This makes sketching a joy. The selection of colours was perfect for a beginner: a bit of everything and every colour with a neighbour that will blend to an easy gradient. I recommend these. They've convinced me to try pastels so I will buy some more expensive ones but the two paintings I have created with these are pretty good and I think I will probably still use them even when I have others.
