Info

Jackson's watercolor sets are chosen to give a varied and extensive palette of our most popular artist watercolors.

Made to the exact same standards and formulas as the best professional artist watercolors available today, Jackson's Artist Watercolors are as good as any leading brand watercolor but at a fraction of the price.

Large chunks of the finest quality Sudanese Kordofan gum arabic are very slowly dissolved in cold water to preserve the gum's maximum binding strength. Honey is then added to give lustre and vivacity to the colors. Carefully selected for their purity and lightfast qualities, the finest pigments are then finely ground and soaked in purified water to allow the colors to develop their maximum splendour. The two mixtures are then blended together and slowly ground into a fine paste. The process is repeated until the pigment particles are dispersed evenly and finely to allow a flawless unity of the watercolor wash. Stringent quality controls follow, resulting in a selection of professional watercolors that are luminous, intense, and a pleasure to use.

Great quality watercolors, versatile color selection for beginners and even seasoned artists and, best of all, affordable set of paints. I was looking for a good tin box and for a great price, found some excellent paints to go with it. It helps the international shipping is fast and very reasonably priced as well. Maybe I wished the set had less toxic (as in cadmiums) paints, but there's nothing to really complain about it. Would buy again. Or maybe the tube set, which would be even more bang for your buck.

Fine, staple. Not sure they are any better than the Cotman student grade but you can't go too far wrong with the 'earths'

mentioned earlier, think the cobalt seems 'runny'

Absolutely fantastic product at an amazing price-point. I've tried both the full-pans and the 21-mL tubes of the important basic colours - Ultramarine Deep, Phthalocyanine Blue, Lemon Yellow, Cadmium Yellow Light, Cadmium Red Light, Carmine, Yellow Ochre and Burnt Sienna, as well as "nice extras" Venetian Red, Burnt Umber, Ivory Black and Permanent Sap Green. They're lovely paints and of exceptionally high quality - they are on par with brands like Winsor and Newton and Schmincke, and in all honesty, I was amazed Jackson's sell them at such a low price point! They have lovely flow but it's not excessive like some brands. The granulating colours are really beautiful and the non-granulators aren't too flat to be honest. Given most "own brand" watercolours are horrible, lithopone-laden, chalky, cheap and nasty products, these are a true marvel as they're genuinely a professional quality product. The price point is excellent for individual pans/tubes and for sets and I highly recommend these for beginners, intermediates and professionals alike. If you are starting out, they're great as they're economical but high quality. If you're a pro, they're on-par with any other major brand but cheap enough to keep in your bag as a sketching set and not have to worry about how much you're getting through. The pans last ages and the tubes re-wet really well if you dry them down in pans or work direct from the tube brilliantly. Full disclosure: Jackson's kindly gave me these products to review on my YouTube channel but I have not received any payment and this review is 100% my own opinion of these wonderful products!

Very pleasantly surprised by the quality and usefulness of this set of colours. I have slightly extended it by adding Jacksons quinacridone purple which is really a good magents that will widen the variety of purples and oranges this set will give. Pthalo or cobalt blue could also be a nice addition, giving you a huge amount of paint at a great price, and a massive range of colours.
