Kuretake-Gansai Tambi Watercolour Sets are filled with traditional Japanese watercolours for artists and designers. These extra large pans (4.5 x 2.5cm) are ideal for sketching, illustration, sumi-e, manga, calligraphy and more.

The range includes a good selection of vivid colours with creamy consistencies. All of the colours are lightfast.

Apply a wet brush to the pans to activate the colours. Gansai pans may exhibit cracking due to extreme dryness or appear rough in texture due to tiny air bubbles, however neither of these traits affect their quality.

Excellent set of gold/copper/platinumish watercolour paints. These are shinier than the standard Kuretake Gansai Gold (no.90). A few drops of water added to the pan, left a minute and then stirred in, makes a lovely creamy paint which gives good coverage. I use them for adding gold detailing to illuminated lettering projects - not as shiny as proper gilding or foiling obviously, but definitely shinier and more luminous than water-based gold pens. Good value too, and odourless - so ideal for those who experience symptoms from other types of gold paint.

I love the colours that come with the 36 set. The quality is fantastic for the price and the paints rewet really easily. Some of the paints do crack but like it says in the description, it doesn't affect the quality of the paint (only 2 of mine have cracked so far - dark pink and purple. The paints are on the opaque side compared to other watercolours but they are extremely vibrant.

Beautiful quality, super strong pigment density, smooth buttery blending Watercolours, in absolutely huge pans. Extremely happy with my purchase and will be recommending to everyone. I would encourage every watercolour it's to give these a try. They have some lovely tones, including metalics! Thank you Jacksons for stocking these. Please keep stocking them as I will be wanting replacement pans in the future, though the size will mean it might not be for some months!

Initially these paints looked highly pigmented but became grainy as they dried. Best used as a covering paint on paper rather than for washes. Not a substitute for traditional watercolour paints.

The colours are vibrant and the quality is really good, the pigments are quite good and you don't need to use so much to achieve the depth you want in a painting. It allows me to do really delicate touches and lends an air of fragility to the images created. Painting Manga with it: the colours really make the pictures come to life.I'm really glad for the speedy delivery. I didn't need to wait so long for my order to arrive, it came a little over a week from when I ordered it, in perfect condition.

Gansai Tambi Japanese Watercolours offer bright and vibrant colours. They are easy to use when travelling as a drop of water activates the pigment quickly. I find them great for travelling. The 24 colours offer enough choice so it is not necessary to do much mixing when painting plein air. The box is light so doesn't add extra weight to backpack. I also use these watercolours at home and find these watercolours moist and creamy to use.
