Info
There are many misconceptions about whether or not it is necessary to varnish an acrylic painting. As a general rule, you should always varnish your acrylic work when possible. Varnishes are applied over dry paint films and have several purposes. The first and most important function is to protect the painting surface from the environment and protect the pigments from ultraviolet light. Secondly, varnishes can be used to change or unify a painting’s surface sheen. Liquitex varnishes come in several different sheens, which can all be intermixed for a customized sheen.

I had to give it one star because I can't give it none. Totally ruined an acrylic flow piece I had painted on a cradled board. It dried yellow so I sanded it lightly before adding a resin top coat but all of my beautiful white negative spaces turned pus yellow. I did use dimethicone in my paint, so not sure if this reacted with the varnish (this is why I hoped to seal the painting before adding the resin.). Will avoid using this in the future and just take the longer path of resin on my paint, sand out the dimethicone blooms then re-resin.

Excellent product and well worth the pennies!!

Although it is good that it has low fumes, it takes far too long to dry, and so far I have not had good results with it. As a varnish would need multiple coats, each drying for 12 hours... its just not practical!

Satisfied with the product just what I expected.

Where brushing on gloss varnish can lead to problems (bubble, streaks), and mineral spirit based spray varnishes leave a stippled finish and obnoxious fumes, this waterbased gloss spray has been a great discovery for me - brilliant stuff.
