The Masters 3mm Aluminium (ACM) Linen Panel with Claessens 13dp Very Fine Linen is a high quality surface for oil painting. It comprises premium oil primed linen mounted on a robust ACM panel.

Each panel is made from 3mm thick aluminium composite material (ACM) which provides a strong, stable support for painting. It is rigid, lightweight and unaffected by temperature or humidity changes making it an ideal, archival-quality support. The panel is a three-layer sandwich panel consisting of two pre-painted aluminium sheets bonded to a polyethylene (PE) core.

Claessens is well recognised as being one of the highest quality linen canvases available. The 13dp is a very fine, professional grade linen which has been double oil primed giving it a smoother and slightly slick surface.

With over 100 years of experience in crafting the finest artist quality canvases, Claessens is recognised worldwide as a leader in the field. Each Claessens canvas undergoes a rigorous treatment and process to meet different requirements for artists.

First, all raw canvases are sized with synthetic PVA glue. For oil primed canvases, the next step involves applying a primer of zinc white paint bound with linseed oil to the glued linen, by means of two knives. The canvas is then put into a drying room for three days where it air-dries naturally.

After this first initial drying time, the canvas is then sanded and a coating layer based on titanium white is applied to the canvas by means of two knives and a roller. The canvas is then placed in the drying room for another ten days.
