Info

St Cuthberts Botanical Ultra Smooth is a 300gsm paper which is mould made from 50% cotton, and which is suitable for use with watercolors, watercolor pencils and acrylics (as well as many dry media). It is acid free and calcium carbonate buffered. The absence of acid guarantees excellent permanence and resistance to ageing. The color (High White) is a very close match to Fabriano 5, and it does contain optical brighteners to give it a bright white color. It is ideal for botanical watercolor painting as well as charcoal, pastels and graphite.

Pads made of St Cuthberts Botanical Ultra Smooth paper are available in three sizes: A3, A4 and A5. These pads contain 10 sheets and are glue bound.

I've had an on/off relationship with watercolours for the past few years because finding good paper where i live is very hard and the cost of experimenting was too much. Later when I really wanted to dedicate my time to learning watercolour I learned that the fabriano that everyone used was having problems. So right off the bat i hit a wall. But after doing my research I decided to give this paper a shot. Now, I cant compare it to the fabriano as i never had a chance to use it, but i have to say, this paper is perfect for my technique. I work with tiny details, loads of layers and washes and this paper holds up nicely. its very smooth and white so the colours really pop too.
