With both internal and surface sizing, these papers have exceptional wet strength that supports the application of multiple washes. Similarly, just as the paper's sizing retards water absorption, pigment stays on the surface of the sheet. The result: remarkably glowing color.
Stillman & Birn bindings are equally rugged. The hardbound bindings - stiff when new - are designed to be broken in. The spines get eased in and then lay completely flat, accomodating both two-page drawing layouts and flatbed scanning.
Bound in the United States, this sketchbook system offers artists a choice of three paper surfaces:
• Vellum – distinctive tooth, suitable for all dry media, and will also accept multiple washes

just as I expected well made sketchbook

Have only just started a sketch in this sketchbook but I am very, very impressed with the quality of the binding and the paper. It takes quite a wet watercolour wash without disintegrating or loosing the brightness of the colours. Not too much buckling and no bleed whatsoever. Will definitely order these again!

Well bound and good paper takes pen and ink and watercolour very well. The sketchbook folds flat so enabling sketching over two facing pages. The example / demonstration by Marc Holmes (citizensketcher) is really inspiring.

Better than Moleskine watercolour sketchbook.This is a great little sketchbook and fits in my coat pocket nicely. The hardback cover is the best quality of any sketchbook I have seen. The paper is good for pencil, pen or watercolour. I can't see any reason for buying another Moleskine ever again.
