I bought two a while back & may buy more! This set is perfect for plein air or urban sketching. Most of the paints are okay, spritz first. If you dont like them, pop them out of the half pans & fill with your favorite watercolor. Having water in the set is wonderful. The micro pen is a zig I believe & waterbrush works great! Makes a great gift, too. Kat, El Rancho Loco Art

Absolutely amazing high quality set! The colors are bright and creamy. The .05 pen does not bleed with watercolors applied on top. It has everything you need and is well constructed. The water brush pen works well with a light squeeze. I was able to do a whole landscape sketch with just the supplied brush. It arrived well packed.

This is a five-star product. The quality you get for the price is fantastic. It is clean, well-built, and comes (mostly) assembled. The center mast comes upside down, so you just slide it off, turn it around, and slide it back in. And the ladder-style height adjustment for the bottom canvas support means no stripped-out dials. I bought an easel for a similar price point back in the US, and it required wood glue and a drill to make it functional, and has been repaired several times since. This easel is much nicer than that one ever was! This really is a great product. HOWEVER. The tray does not move. The tray is bolted to the main mast. This is a problem - I am not tall (5'2" on a good day) and I cannot get the tray up to a comfortable height to paint at while standing, because the mast ends up hitting the ceiling. And my studio isn't in some converted attic or weird work space with low ceilings - it's in a modern bedroom with regular-height ceilings. It is a disappointment, to say the least. At least I wasn't planning on doing anything that I need to stand up for. If I had been aware of this tray issue, I probably would have gone with a different easel. But, I have this one now, so I will have to make due. I might try and see if I can modify it in some way, but I think I'm SOL.

Awkward to use. Would have been more useful if it was about half an inch wider, with a groove to hold the painting at the top, as well as the bottom. Difficult to get two paintings into the carrier without them touching. Also paintings tended to slide out unless carried completely upright.

Whilst the product supplied is good it was not well packaged being merely slid into a cardboard box which was battered and torn on delivery with parts of the easel exposed with sleight damage(dents) to the easel. Not sure if the product has been updated since first being listed as contrary to the specifications and one of the Q&A, the easel is not 11Kg as the packaging is labelled with a gross weight of 9Kg and a net of 8Kg. The dimensions differ too, with a base of 60x51cm not 55x50.5cm. On initial setup the easel appears stable with a large mast, probably unsuitable for modern houses. Unlike Ciara my easel required the mast rotating as it was fitted upside down and the mast/frame rear clamp was loose in a plastic bag in the transport box.

Already have a large studio easel which I find awkward to use, so have been wanting to buy a H-Frame for a while. Unfortunately the cost of them is usually off-putting, so when I saw this easel I jumped at the chance to order it because the price is good in comparison to other H-Frames. The quality is superb too – lightweight yet study. I was a bit concerned when I read other reviews, as people have mentioned it comes with no instructions and is very tall. Nonetheless I found it extremely easy to assemble – there’s no real assembly involved, as all it requires is just sliding 2 pieces together and tightening a part. No tools or instructions are needed, so as long as you know what a H-Frame easel looks like or have used one previously – it’s simple. The height is ok for my studio too – which is just a standard room in my house. A fantastic product and I can’t recommend this easel enough.

I have several kolinsky brushes, Da Vinci Maestro, Escoda Tajmyr 1212, Rosemary and co., Luxartis. The Jackson´s Tajmyr 1205 size 12 are smaller sized than Da Vinci and Rosemay but same size as Escoda and bigger than Luxartis. The very reasonable price and the high quality of the Jackson Tajmyr brush makes it a firm recommendation. I am going to by some more brushes in other sizes. A bargain!

This is a great brush with great capacity and a proper sharp point. Perfect for detail and calligraphic passages. Looks nice, too. It's my most used brush aside from my favorite squirrel quill.

Unpacked in excitement. Assembled in anticipation. Raised it ready for a canvas - and hit the ceiling! It's too tall for my room - which is not the fault of the product! The product is absolutely fine - but the hole I cut in my ceiling lets in the draught! (Joking really! A joiner friend is making another slidey-bit to hold the canvas!)

This is just what I needed for taking boards to and from art classes. Construction is simple but robust enough. As supplied, it's not really possible to carry 2 boards/canvasses of the same size as the bolt heads on the sliding clamps protrude too far. I fixed this in minutes by using a hand-held countersink tool to bore out a little more wood and thus recess the bolt heads enough to allow them to be positioned directly opposite each other - problem solved. A useful item at a reasonable price.

Well made, useful piece of kit. I wish i'd bought one before. It makes transporting wet canvases/boards so much simpler. Re. Gavin Blench's review point about bolt heads standing proud - this is easily rectified by using a small hand-held countersink tool (easily available) to ream out a small depression to fit the square top end of the bolt shank, then no problem when carrying two canvasses of same size. Of course, manufacturer could do that too.

A really handy piece of kit if painting plein air. Boards or canvases can be carried back to the studio without getting smudged or marked. As usual with jackson's own brand this is of sturdy construction and works well.

A very useful piece of kit for any plein air painting, as canvases can be carried back to the studio without getting smudged. Good sturdy construction. The only slight drawback with this design is that 2 canvases of the same size cannot be carried (unless they are small enough for one to be inserted lengthways) as the boltheads stand proud of the holes on the inside of the clamps, but otherwise a really good purchase.

I read the review about someone who said the mast was too tall so I phoned and asked just how high the mast went and the height was well within my studio height. The easel came apparently assembled but as soon as I tried to stand it up I realised it was all wrong. There were no instructions so after considering it for several minutes I realised it was screwed together with the tray and clamp at the wrong ends of the mast and upside down so I had to take it all apart. I couldn't budge the top clamp after removing the black screw which I assumed was holding it in place. It was stuck upside down at the top of the mast or the right way up at the bottom. I rang customer services but they weren't very helpful. Then I tried sliding a palette knife between the clamp and the mast to see what was holding it and found (to my relief) that the metal plate (that the screw pushes down) had simply got stuck to the varnish of the mast. I reassembled it and then realised that if I wanted to stand at it with the tray at a reasonable height (and the bottom of the canvas ditto) the mast too would have to move up and sure enough, hit the ceiling (way before the tray was high enough). So my husband is going to make another clamp for the bottom of the canvas and chop a bit off the mast. If you want an easel to sit down at this is fine but if you want an easel to stand at be aware you may have to adapt it. If it was sold with instructions for assembly, a tool to undo the fiddly bolts on the tray, a slightly shorter mast and a second clamp I would give it 5 stars.
