My first time using Duralar. I'm currently using this dual-coated semi transparent acetate alternative for dip pen ink work with acrylic painting on the reverse side (much like animation cells). The surface takes the media reasonably well, but is very very smooth, so for those who like any kind of teeth to their surface it may be too much. Ink tends to sit on top of the surface until dry and can be wiped off within a few seconds of application if a mistake is made, as can the paint. Ink can be prone to scratching off when dry, so some kind of fixative might be needed.Rating
It takes pencil reasonably well, but it's tough to layer pencil, so I'm not sure I'd use it for solely pencil work. It has a slightly milky transparency to it, which means any work done on it could be mounted on coloured or other textures surfaces for a subtle background. Also handy for using as a protective layer on other surfaces, as it's transparent, you can see the finished work beneath.
As my first experience with an acetate like surface, I wish there was just a teensy bit of grip to the surface, but I am already learning to work with it and can definitely see it becoming a part of my artistic arsenal. (Posté le 06/09/2016)
