- 10am gathering at the Riverside Arena (9:45am check-in)
- Paint/draw/print throughout the day
- 3pm meet-up at the Riverside Arena to reflect on the day
What to expect
A casual gathering for artists of all levels to connect and respond to the landscape together, with support and advice on hand from a Jackson's art materials specialist, and a meet-up at the end of the day to look at everyone's artworks. Whether you paint, draw, print, or work with any other medium, everyone is welcome.
How to get there
By train: The nearest station is Moreton, which is a 10 minute taxi ride away. Moreton is on the South West Main Line, which runs an hourly service from London Waterloo to Weymouth.
By car: Sculpture by the Lakes is situated in the village of Pallington, 1 mile east of Tincleton on the Ilsington Road between the A35 at Dorchester and the B3990 Waddock Drove.
From Dorchester: Take the A35 heading towards Bere Regis (east) from Dorchester. Turn off at the junction signed to Affpuddle, Warmwell and Crossways. Follow the brown signs onto B3990 Waddock Drove, turn right off this road and head west towards Tincleton for .7 miles. The entrance is on the left before you go under the power lines.
From Bere Regis: Take the A35 heading towards Dorchester (west). Turn off at the junction signed to Affpuddle, Warmwell and Crossways. About Sculpture by the Lakes
Set in 26 acres near Dorchester, Sculpture by the Lakes offers a unique blend of art and nature. Established in 2011 within a former fishery, the venue showcases over 120 sculptures by renowned artist Simon Gudgeon and other sculptors, set amongst lakes, gardens, and the River Frome, offering a peaceful, immersive experience in a thoughtfully designed, rural setting.

We’ll be going ahead whatever the weather, but shelter can be found in the gallery or cafe if it rains.

This event is being organised to bring artists together and to highlight the beauty found throughout the UK. Please respect the area throughout the event and take all your litter home with you or dispose of it in the bins on site. All dirty water and solvents should be taken home and disposed of responsibly. Children under 14 aren’t permitted.

Film and photography will be taking place throughout the event to document the day, with a focus on artists at work and their materials. The content may be used for promotional purposes. If you prefer not to be filmed or photographed, please let the photographer know.
