Jackson's : SHINKU Dark Red Synthetic Brushes
Jackson's : SHINKU Dark Red Synthetic Brushes
Jackson's Shinku brushes have deep red hairs (Shinku means ‘crimson’ in Japanese) that have a good spring and snap.
The hairs are super glossy which helps achieve smooth and fresh brush marks. Shinku brushes are made to the highest specification which means you will not lose hairs in your work while painting. A wonderful long handled brush, perfect for acrylic painting techniques.
Staff tip:
When cleaning synthetic brushes that have been used with oil paint it is advisable to not use turpentine as it will start to break down the synthetic filaments within the brush. Instead we recommend to use an odourless / low-odour brush cleaner.

After trying a comparison pack of synthetic brushes, I found that I enjoyed the Red Shinku the most. I have now expanded my collection to include more Red Shinku brushes. They have great spring but are softer than the Synthetic Akoya brushes (which mimic hog). Since I paint with oils typically wet-on-wet, I need brushes that are not too firm and won't pull the paint off of the surface. These are great as they help me blend in where I need or add a new colour to the surface without lifting off the paint laid down before.Rating
The spring in the brush also prevents too much pressure on the canvas, which is good for me as I can be pretty heavy-handed without noticing sometimes. (Posted on 23/05/2023)- Review by Valery

Very good brush, I use it with oil. Same quality as da Vinci TOP-ACRIL 7185, but more competitively priced. I would highly recommend it (Posted on 28/08/2021)Rating - Review by Valery

My only gripe is that the sizing of the Jackson's brushes is completely different to standard European sizing. So when I ordered a 4 and a 6, they turned out to be enormous, not what I was expecting at all. The brushes are ok though, hold their shape well. (Posted on 28/11/2019)Rating - Review by Feefo

Very soft and pliable, responds well to oils but soft enough to use for watercolour. Cleans easily in solvent for oils and also under a tap. Nice smooth blending and holds paint well. Have bought again since as a back up! (Posted on 19/07/2018)Rating - Review by Vincent
