Roberson Oil Primer is a flexible one-coat primer that can be used on canvas or wood. It is made from Titanium White pigment, china clay, and a mix of Linseed oil and alkyd resin. This means it is a fast-drying primer; it will be surface dry in 3-5 hours and fully dry within 16 hours. Two coats will produce a slippery surface on which oil paint can be pushed around.

Please remember that any absorbent substrate such as canvas or paper should be sized before the application of this ground. This will seal the surface so that oil does not leech into it or cause it to rot. You can use acrylic size, rabbit skin glue, or acrylic primer for this purpose; one easy option is the Gamblin PVA Size.

Please note, this product cannot be sent by air mail. Some European destinations are available by road, but this will incur an additional shipping charge.

This tin of oil primer should last me quite a long time. I have used it to paint over an old oil painting I no longer wanted to preserve and this primer covered with one coat. It also dries reasonably fast - touch dry in approximately 4 hours and completely dry overnight. (Posted on 18/04/2017)

A bit smellier than what I am used to, but I love it! The Robersons Oil Medium is excellent too! (Posted on 16/03/2017)

I've used this before, and like the surface it produces - I would have gone for the next size up, but couldn't wait for stock to arrive (Posted on 16/03/2017)

One coat gives slightly absorbent finish, two coats gives a more traditional oil primer finish (Posted on 16/03/2017)
