This Limited Edition Schmincke Watercolour set contains 12 x 5ml tubes of Schmincke Horadam Watercolours. The selection provides a range of colours for versatile mixing and can be used to try a new palette or build on an existing collection of colours.

Contains 12 x 5ml tubes in the following colours: Pure Yellow (PY154), Yellow Orange (PY110), Quinacridone Magenta (PR122), Quinacridone Purple (PV55), Ultramarine Blue (PB15, PB29), Phthalo Sapphire Blue (PB15:6), Sap Green (PY153, PG7), Raw Sienna (PBr7, PY43), Raw Umber (PBr7, PY43), Transparent Sienna (PR101), Transparent Umber (PR101), Schmincke Payne's Grey.

In order to achieve the highest standard regarding lightfastness, resolubility and stability, Schmincke use the best raw materials for their Horadam watercolours. In 1892 Josef Horadam, one of the founders of the artists’ colours company H. Schmincke & Co., received the first patents for watercolours. Since then many artists, notably including like Emil Nolde and Oskar Kokoschka, have used these colours for their work.

Schmincke uses Kordofan Gum Arabic from the Sahara region as a binder. Due to it differing from year to year it is tested and the best of the batch is selected to use with their pigments. They use an optimal amount of oxgall to avoid undesired coloured formations and undissolved pigment, allowing a smooth flow of colour.
