Top of the range Kolinsky Sable brush from Raphael of France. Made to very high specifications this professional brush has a fine point and full body. Seamless nickel-plated brass ferrule and its distinctive orange tip. A brush to treasure.
The hair, which has a golden red fawn appearance, has incomparable vigour, springiness and elasticity. Thanks to it's flag, it is the perfect bristle for precision work and fine details. It is the ideal extra-fine hair for all artists' brushes, but historically it's price has been higher than gold.

Now I have sizes 8, 10 and 14. All are of the greatest quality. The slight differences are in the handle proportions. For me, #10 has ideal proportion, while #8 is a hair too short and #14 perhaps a hair too thick (I have big hands, but somehow I do prefer thinner handles), but it's smooth, without pronounced So-called ""ergonomic"" transitions that I find annoying in most of the other makes. Nevertheless, 14 is my new star! It offers perfect control from hair-thin details to bald washes. It extends your hand and flows smoothly. Point, snap, spring... You name it, it's got it all! After long wait and flawless communication with JA, the brush has finally arrived - and it was worth waiting! Although not as ""perfect"" as sizable 10 (which has ideal proportions and balance), #8 is just a hair below in perfection. Beautiful brush that performs wonderfully. Highly recommended.
