Canson Mi-Teintes Touch Pastel Paper 335gsm (Normal size sheet is 50x65cm, sample will be 1/4 of this)
Clairefontaine Pastelmat Pastel Paper 360gsm (Normal size sheet is 50x70cm, sample will be 1/4 of this)
Art Spectrum Colourfix Pastel Paper 300gsm (Normal size sheet is 50x70cm, sample will be 1/4 of this)
Tim Fisher 400 Art Pastel Paper 360gsm (Normal size sheet is 50x70cm, sample will be 1/4 of this)
Sennelier Soft Pastel Card 360gsm (Normal size sheet is 50x65cm, sample will be 1/4 of this)
UART Sanded Pastel Paper 400 Grade (Normal size sheet is 53x69cm, sample will be 1/4 of this)

Please note that colours may vary from pack to pack and a replacement will be found if we are out of stock of a particular colour. The size of each sheet will also vary slightly as it will be a quarter of whatever size is listed above.

Please note: to work out which paper is which, there is a very light pencil mark in one of the corners with a number corresponding to the printed numeric list.

Good idea to try paper before buying lager size.
Out of this set of 7 different brands my final preference are only 3:
Canson Mi-Teintes Touch - easiest for general painting and suitable for any pastels and allow multiple corrections
Clairefontaine Pastelmat - good for animals
Sennelier Soft Pastel Card - required more attention and doesn't allow corrections, but result can be perfect

I love that you get to try different expensive papers before plonking down the cash. But I'm giving this 4 stars instead of 5 because I do wish the Jackson's would make the markings on the BACK of the paper instead of the front. Don't understand the reasoning behind this - the marks are impossible to remove. (Posted on 04/09/2020)

What a great buy! It's a very nice assortment to get familiar with the most famous sanded paper brands - for a low price! First you think that a quarter of a sheet is a small size, but hey, it's about 25 cm x 35 cm which makes 7 full paintings!

I bought this wonderful set for my oil pastels and Clairefontaine Pastelmat is my favourite so far being the happy medium between a good tooth and "fingers-friendly" surface. Actually first I thought it was the wrong paper - it was so smooth as if it had no real tooth! But then it turned out Pastelmat has this unique kind of surface which grabs the oil pastels well while being nice to your fingers. No wonder both soft pastelists and oil pastelists favour it!

Other surfaces are interesting for experimenting too. I found Uart and Tim Fisher to be the roughest. Hahnemuhle Velour must be great for something misty-vague and ethereal. Very excited about all of them! (Posted on 12/02/2019)

Good selection of sanded pastel papers. Hadn't tried any sanded paper before, and found it is much easier to use than non-sanded. It does work out quite expensive, but I'm sure Jacksons is no dearer than anywhere else I could purchase it. (Posted on 29/06/2018)
