Silver Brush : Black Velvet : Squirrel & Risslon Brush : Series 3000S / 3007S / 3008S / 3009S / 3012S / 3014S / 3025S
Silver Brush Black Velvet brushes are made from a blend of Squirrel hair and a new type of synthetic filament called Risslon. Because they are blended, these premium short-handled brushes possess the durability and spring of a synthetic brush, and the liquid-holding capacity of a squirrel mop, making them a great investment. They are designed for use with water-based paint; principally watercolour, inks, dyes and silk-painting.
The black Risslon filaments are mounted in black ferrules. The end of the sleek black handle is bevelled and can be used for burnishing and scraping.

I've seen many artists on YouTube using these brushes and have always been impressed by the way they seem to keep a good point so thought I'd try one. Bought these last year after seeing people rave about them, series 3000s #2 and #4. Tried them when they arrived, then put them aside. Just tried them again and now I understand why.Rating
There are several quite thick, stiff fibres in each brush that look as if they've been cut at different lengths. They protrude from the outline of the brushes and cause the brush to split making them difficult to rely on for all but the broadest strokes.
I paint very fine, detailed watercolours, so it makes them useless.
A huge disappointment considering the price paid and the hype around them.

I bought both the wood handle brush and the travel brush. It doesnt have a big belly so I thought it would not hold enough water but it does. Laser point brush. I have been trying several brushes and this thing is unreal, no wonder everyone talks great about them. It is soft but not floppy, it holds water but is very controllable. The bristles mix is great but the design is key I think, since the relationship of size of barrel and length of bristles leads to an overall conic shape , without a belly that gets out then in. Excellent brush, hold water really well and keep its shape even with heavy abuse. It can do everything you need your round brush to do - large wash, perfect lines, detail works. Best watercolor brush I've ever had. I've been using the Kolinsky Sable brushes from Escoda for some time now, and had no complains about them. I still think those are fine brushes, but this one, this brush exceeded all my expectations. For starters, it holds so much water! It takes a really long time before I have to load it again. The second thing I have noticed is that it seems to be soft just in the right amount, enough so you can do your watercolor stuff just the way you imagined, but not so much that you end up losing its shape. Laser point brush. I have been trying several brushes and this thing is unreal, no wonder everyone talks great about them. It is soft but not floppy, it holds water but is very controllable. The bristles mix is great but the design is key I think, since the relationship of size of barrel and length of bristles leads to an overall conic shape , without a belly that gets out then in. Excellent brush, hold water really well and keep its shape even with heavy abuse. It can do everything you need your round brush to do - large wash, perfect lines, detail works. Though for me I should have bought a size 6 since I mainly work very small (A5 ish size), but I found myself reaching for this brush more than my size 6 ones. Great brush, gonna order a size 6 now. And I also ordered the size 4 script liner which I haven’t had much use of yet but will probably use for trees. Want to order the size 2 because it will probably be more useful for me. Best watercolor brush I've ever had. I've been using the Kolinsky Sable brushes from Escoda for some time now, and had no complains about them. I still think those are fine brushes, but this one, this brush exceeded all my expectations. For starters, it holds so much water! It takes a really long time before I have to load it again. The second thing I have noticed is that it seems to be soft just in the right amount, enough so you can do your watercolor stuff just the way you imagined, but not so much that you end up losing its shape. Dieser Pinsel ist super weich und hält unheimlich viel Wasser. Das gleichmäßige lasieren von Flächen gelingt mühelos. Die Leistung ist bei diesem Pinsel top.Rating
