Okay, so I have now used this book. It’s good for watercolour, but don’t put too much water on. Keep it as dry as you possibly can.

I just received two of these sketchbooks. I have yet to use them, which is why I withheld one star, so sorry about that. It’s not easy to find black watercolour paper, let alone watercolour sketchbooks. I really hope they have not been hyped up! I can’t wait to use them.

I don't often give reviews unless an item really disappoints or really pleases. In this case this sketchbook really pleased me. I've used pen and ink and also aqua brushes and both worked really well with no bleed through or bleed out.I think it might not cope with really wet washes too well but it's not really intended that so that's not surprising. But what really pleased me was when I used coloured pencils on it. The paper has enough tooth to it to enable some nice layering and the grey tone really works well as a mid point base enhancing both richer colours and pale yellows and ivories and white.

This is a very versatile sketchbook. The paper is lovely for sketching or use of watercolour and all the mediums I’ve tried so far. It’s a good size to use. I thoroughly recommend it.

This is an excellent book to use with all manner of media. The paper is thick and everything flows on it.

This sketchbook is gorgeous and the cover feels kind of leathery, even though it's just a softcover sketchbook. The paper does buckle as soon as water is used but since the paper doesn't dissolve/pill immediately I feel like it's acceptable for use with metallic watercolors. Where the sketchbook really shines is when it's used with metallic pencils. It makes the most simple sketches a real eye catcher. Posca pens also look good in it, so do opaque colored pencils. I've even experimented with pan pastels and had good results.

Excellent little sketchbook, takes acrylic paint so well, and lets me layer mediums. The tone is brilliant, the cover is stylish and soft, also it opens flat. Got the smallest size but it's actually perfect for everything.

This is a neat firm book. The pages open out flat. Despite being soft cover it is still quite durable and hasn't become dog-eared in my bag. The paper is a good warm colour, about the colour of a flat white coffee: clearly a brown colour, but not too dark. Black ink shows up well. The paper is like cartridge paper, matt and strong, superb for pen and ink. It takes watercolour fine, although it buckles a bit for a really wet wash - it's 140gsm so that's reasonable. I have also been using Winsor and Newton watercolour sticks, dry, which work brilliantly. The white stick shows up well. There's no bookmark and no back pocket.

Brilliant. Really, really brilliant. By far the best toned paper I have ever used. It takes all sorts of media very well. Can’t say enough good things about it.
