The colours are chosen according to mass tone (colour from tube), undertone (bias of colour when in a thin film), colour strength, relative opacity and the character of the pigment in water colour, ie. granulating, staining or even wash. The resultant colour spectrum ensures the largest number of colours can be mixed from the range.

The optimum brilliance of every colour in the Artists' Water Colour range is unparalleled by any other water colour. Remarkably, this brilliance is combined with high permanence.

I use relatively few multipigment watercolour paints, as I tend to make my own mixtures, but this one, which is a mix of three pigments, I find convenient for some of my landscape work. It is in fact wrongly described by W&N because quinacridone gold pigment, a throw up from the car industry, is no longer generally available. More correctly it is "quinacridone gold hue" (Posted on 25/06/2016)

Absolutely love this colour, the closest tone to real quin gold which is now a rare pigment, this one is now a permanent member in my palette. (Posted on 18/06/2015)
