Jackson’s have created a range of handmade professional quality soft pastels and they are lovely! Once I started to use them, I just couldn’t put them down. These hand-rolled pastels have a great buttery feel; their low binder to pigment ratio ensures brighter, more saturated hues when used on all sorts of surfaces and in mixed-media work.
Presentation
The pastels come in strong, rigid slimline black cardboard boxes with protective foam. Jackson’s also make a lightweight folding empty beechwood travelling case that you can fill with your pastels – the protective foam inserts from the box sets can be transferred to the sections in the box. There are two sizes: one takes 112, the other 196 pastels. When folded it is really easy to carry around by its comfortable leather handle and internal melamine boards keep the pastels in place. A very useful colour chart is also available. Read more here.
