Most fine art colours are made from pigment and one or two base ingredients. Many of these are of natural origin, such as clay from the ground, linseed oil from the flax plant, and gum arabic from the acacia tree.

We created this Art Material Map to show how fine art products can be grouped according to their base ingredients.
