Jane de Sausmarez has been teaching about colour for many years. She has written a book about colour, Basic Colour: a practical handbook, that we stock.
*Update, the book is now out of print. (February 2019)*
This is a practical basic guide to colour theory and practice. It simply but comprehensively explains colour theory, its vocabulary and terminology, opaque and transparent colours, subtractive colour mixing and provides temperature, tonal and complementary colour charts. There are also charts giving gouache, acrylic, oil, watercolour and textile dye equivalents. The result is a good basic guide to mixing colours that painters and textile artists will find invaluable.
Jane teaches a 2-day intensive course from her home in North London that comes together when there are enough students to hold a course. She is a lovely woman and her course is interesting. Doing the hands-on mixing really helps you learn. Email: Contact Jane to book a place.
