Ask an Artist is a podcast that explores what it takes to become a working artist through conversations with practicing artists, and a variety of industry experts including art materials manufacturers, accountants and gallerists. Co-hosts, Peter Keegan and Tom Shepherd invited Gary Thompson, director of Jackson’s Art Supplies, to discuss where it all began, and how an unwavering commitment to supporting artists lies at the heart of Jackson’s ethos.

About Ask an Artist
Ask an Artist is the podcast devised by working artists Laura Boswell and Peter Keegan in 2019. Laura left the podcast at the end of Season 2 in 2021 and new co-host, Tom Shepherd, joined Peter for the start of Season 3, in March 2022.
The purpose of the show and this website is to share their knowledge and expertise of what it takes to become a working artist – the sort that gets to make art AND pay the bills at the same time. Covering a range of topics from social media to self-doubt or finding a gallery to finances, they discuss and dissect all the business related issues rarely discussed in the art world.
