You can create beautiful illustrations like these by Johanna Basford using Staedtler Fineliner drawing pens. Read an interview with Johanna in this related post.

These super fine liner pens are great for writing, sketching and drawing and the black pigment ink is lightfast, waterproof and permanent. Because it is indelible there is no bleeding when highlighted.

The nine line widths available mean you will have control over even the thinnest line in your drawing. The long metal tip holding the fibre point means it works well with rulers and templates. And we take our caps off to it for it can be left uncapped for 18 hours without drying up.

  1. I totally agree with Johanna! I am an artist and printmaker, I love drawing and hand printing. All my work starts with detailed drawings using Staedler fineliners – my favourites are 0.05, 0.1 and 0.2. What I particularly love is that because these are permanent, I can produce a drawing and hand colour with watercolour inks without fear of smudging or destroying my penwork.

    1. Hi Alison!
Thanks for the endorsement of the pens!
I had a peek at your website. I love the Birdcage – Melbourne prints! They are lovely 🙂
