After two weeks of voting, our expert panel of judges have selected the 25 short-listed artworks for Jackson’s Open Painting Prize.
The Jackson’s Open Painting Prize had a huge response with over 2,000 artists submitting their drawings, paintings and prints. After much deliberation the Jackson’s panel selected 220 for a long-list of really excellent work that was announced 14th April. As the next step of the selection process our panel of six expert judges have now chosen their favourites from that list creating a short-list of 25 artworks. Congratulations to all the artists whose work was selected for the short-list! All those that have made the shortlist will be emailed.
The Panel of Judges
The judges are: Gallery consultant Anna Bromwich, Figurative & landscape painter Nick Archer, exhibitions manager Roma Piotrowska, curator Rebecca Gordon, visual artist Catharine Davison and experimental landscape painter Nerine Tassie.
The judges thoroughly enjoyed looking through and judging the entries and found it difficult to choose the shortlist because of the high standard of work that was displayed. Interestingly this year, there were many portraits and figurative works which made the shortlist.
The Next Step
It will now be the judges’ task to choose the three winning entries which will be announced on 12th May. Our category judges are also in the process of choosing the four category winners from the 220 longlisted entries.
