Molotow: Pioneering Spray Paint and Street Art Culture
Founded in 1959 as Farben Feuerstein by Wilhelm Feuerstein, MOLOTOW was later taken over and expanded by his son Jürgen Feuerstein. Combining his knowledge of paints with a passion for muscle cars and the local club scene, Jürgen became deeply involved in the emerging graffiti movement.
Collaborating with leading street artists he developed the first optimised spray cans featuring reduced mist, sharp edges, and no mixing balls. This established their spray cans as the go-to choice for street artists. This was followed by their PREMIUM spray can and the ONE4ALL acrylic markers, which became flagship products that set new standards.
Molotow’s ONE4ALL markers are particularly popular, offering a versatile, refillable marker system with replaceable tips suitable for a variety of surfaces, from paper to metal and wood. These markers are highly pigmented, lightfast and waterproof, making them ideal for both indoor and outdoor projects.
Beyond product innovation, Molotow played a crucial role in legitimising graffiti as a recognised art form. In 2004, the brand hosted the first graffiti exhibition at gallery K31, attracting thousands of visitors and bridging the gap between street artists and the art world.
Today, MOLOTOW remains a leading brand in the urban art scene, known for its high quality products and its enduring commitment to supporting and advancing street art culture across the globe.
