ShinHan Art: Korean Excellence in Colour Since 1967

Founded in 1967 by Han Bok Rin, ShinHan Art began with a vision to revitalise Korea’s art scene during a period of growth and recovery after the Korean War.

Inspired by the country’s transformation, ShinHan sought to provide high quality Korean art materials to artists and students, replacing the imported paints that had become commonplace. With a passion for innovation and education, ShinHan produced its first opaque poster colour in 1973, which soon became a staple in Korean schools and remains prominent in education today.

Through the 1980s, ShinHan expanded to produce a full range of artist materials, including oil, gouache, and watercolour paints. In 1996, they introduced their PWC premium watercolour, crafted with meticulous attention to lightfastness, transparency, and granulation to meet the needs of professional artists.

ShinHan’s commitment to innovation continued with the launch of the alcohol-based TOUCH Marker, which became an industry favourite among designers and illustrators for its precision and vibrant colours.

Today, ShinHan Art stands as a symbol of Korea’s artistic and industrial development. ShinHan received the ‘Minister of Economy’ award from the Korean government in 2010, and continues to be honoured for its contributions to Korean art and recognised globally for its quality.

Their dedication to quality has helped make ShinHan a trusted name in art supplies, inspiring creativity across the globe.
