Etching - Getting Started
Etching is a printmaking technique where artists carve designs onto a metal plate coated with an acid-resistant layer. Once the design is etched into the metal, the plate is immersed in acid, which erodes the exposed lines, creating grooves. Ink is applied to the plate and wiped clean, leaving ink in the etched grooves. The plate is then pressed onto paper to create a detailed print. Etching for Beginners is a great place to start if you’re new to etching and intaglio.
