Info
Jackson's Empty Pastel Storage Case is an excellent storage and travel solution for pastel artists.
The sturdy nylon case holds up to 196 pastels and is the perfect size for Jackson's Handmade Soft Pastels and Unison Colour Soft Pastels. If you wish to store other types and sizes of pastels, like many pastel painters do, you cannot include a foam insert in some sections when packing the bag. Make sure the box you use is packed correctly or full of pastels so they are less likely to move around, break, and create lots of pastel dust. Velcro and zip fastenings at the front ensure safety in transit, as well as easy access to your pastels.
This case contains seven empty pastel storage boxes with foam inserts which can hold 28 pastels in each.

Flexible and efficient:
I bought this as my third or fourth attempt at organising my pastels in a way that I could take them outside my home and store at home too. I needed to be able to categorise my collection and choose what I need, without rearranging the pastels themselves each time. After making some choices which did not work, this one does, and I am delighted. I like that the different boxes means I can sort the pastels between soft and harder, and by colour range. This means I only take out with me what I need and I can use the extra space in the bag for other items. I like the matt black of the boxes. They look very sleek and pastel dust can be wiped off with a dry or almost dry cloth. I liked the drop down front which means I can label the boxes on the top top and long front side so I don’t have to unpack the lot to see what I have. I was fortunate to already have a supply of small adhesive labels and would suggest labelling the boxes should be a priority. I also like that the boxes are flexible enough to contain other products. One of mine has extra pastel pencils, erasers, blenders, etc. I also like that there is enough wiggle room in the bag to be able to also house a large but slim box of pastel pencils at the back. The only negative was that one or two of the box lids fit very snuggly, so much so that they were awkward to open. I solved the problem to some extent by swapping the lids and bases around. The boxes would be improved by half circle cut-outs on the lids to make opening easier. Overall, I’m delighted with the product and would recommend.
