Dip Pens

Dip pens are a relatively primitive and exciting medium to draw with. Without a barrel there is no flow of ink, and the act of dipping will invariably alter the thickness of the deposited lines. Perfect for quick sketches.

Almost any type of ink works with a dip pen. We recommend drawing ink or Indian ink for best results.

Acrylic Ink: Versatile and waterproof, suitable for mixed media projects with acrylic paint.

Calligraphy Ink: Available in a wide variety of colours and formulated to have a thin consistency.

Drawing Ink: Compatible with other media, choose from waterproof or water-soluble options.

Indian Ink: A popular drawing ink made with a shellac base. Typically water-resistant and glossy when dry.

Sumi Ink: A traditional Japanese ink made from soot, animal glue and water.
