Ampersand Museum Series Pastelbord is a clay and gesso coated hardboard panel with a granular marble dust finish comparable to a sanded pastel paper, except more durable and more versatile. It can be used with wet or dry traditional pastel techniques or with acrylics, and more. The coating is pH neutral and non-yellowing, making it a truly permanent museum quality surface.

Exceptional
I am so happy with this surface for use with my soft and hard pastels. Unlike other mounted ranges, this does not bend at all, it is a rigid panel. I have used the 5x7 ones for charity postcard shows knowing the charities will be able to display them without any risk of bending. They can take several layers of pastel and when used with fixative (I used Pastel Freeze) they do not smudge at all. I am currently using larger panels and they will be displayed on easels without frames as they are so sturdy and hold the layers so well. I highly recommend this product, though I advise each user to consider their own preferences on fixative and framing.
