Founded in 1995, US-based artist and color expert Terry Ludwig decided to create a soft pastel range due to the lack of color options available from other brands. He has now created over 500 colors which all have the same softness throughout. These square handcrafted pastels are highly concentrated and have a velvety feel.

Based in Littleton, Colorado, Terry Ludwig Pastels are a family-owned business dedicated to crafting high quality handmade soft pastels.
Founded in 2005 by artist Terry Ludwig, the company began as a response to Terry’s desire for more pastel color options and square-shaped pastels. Drawing on his expertise in color mixing, Terry developed his own line of rectangular soft pastels that allowed for both broad strokes and fine details, making them versatile for a range of fine art applications.
Terry Ludwig Pastels has introduced many unique colors. One of their most popular colors is Eggplant (V100), which is described as having a deep purple hue that is ‘darker than black.’ This color can be found in their Ultra Violets set. The range includes over 600 colors, with new shades added as the team finds more colors that inspire artists.
