Faber-Castell Polychomos are the finest oil-based color pencils on the market. Each pencil has a 3.8mm lead which is colored with high quality artists' pigments suspended in an oil-based binder.
This lead is bound to its casing of Californian cedar wood, which renders it exceptionally break-resistant. It is water-resistant, smudge proof and has exceptional covering power, though it will also sharpen to a very fine point for detailed work. The full range includes 120 colors which are graded good, very good, or maximum for lightfastness.
All Faber-Castell pencils, pens, and erasers use inorganic and synthetic materials or materials of plant origin. Faber-Castell have not initiated any animal testing on products or materials for 22 years, and do not use casein glue in packaging.

Review
These pencils have a nice texture and the coverage is smooth. I really like the range of colors that are available as well.

I have mixed feelings about these pencils. They feel a lot like working with pastel pencils. I think, if you like using pastel pencils, you will love these. Personally, I find that I still end up doing my detail work with Derwent Studio. (My all-time favorite.)
