A European style transparent watercolor, Holbein watercolor preserves the brush handling qualities inherent in traditional Japanese watercolor techniques. They are produced without ox-gall, animal by-products or other dispersing agents, which permits greater color density and brush control.

The range has a consistent creamy texture that remains smooth when dry without cracking, crumbling, chipping or moulding in the palette. Colors can be rewetted and used like a pan color - simply fill the wells of a suitable palette with the desired color selection, allow it to dry, then wet the color when needed.

Holbein offers a 108-color range, available in 5ml and 15ml tubes.

This is a beautiful colour, though be aware it's a mix of PB16 and PG7, and not a single pigment PB16. The colour is slightly greener than the PB16 paints by Daniel Smith and Schmincke.

My favorite ultramarine, darker than regular ultramarine and has a little more red bias too, so if you have cobalt blue as a primary blue, you are not adding a similar hue since they are "far apart enough"(compared to normal ultramarine). Holbein quality is the highest possible.

It's a fantastic paint. It works well with the rest of my palette and it mixes well with paynes grey to create darker yellowy tones without turning green (the problem I was having with my lemon yellow) I bought it to help paint architecture and church buildings, but I also think it's good for mixing for some skin tones. It was also my first holbein colour but now I'm considering a palette of holbein.

One of the best greys out there. Very stable when mixed with blacks and browns to give stone colours.

This is a good cleaner-shade, warmer cerulean, PB35, (it has a lot less of the greenish tint that some pb35s have), but is not pigment-rich so I'm getting through a lot of the paint in one small sketch, which might imply it's a more expensive process to get pb35 to this colour(?). It resembles the old Sennelier pb35 (which Sennelier no longer make).

Great colour, wants to be your friend. Shows up the delicate colour adjustments better than most other raw siennas because the pigment holbeins use is slightly more transparent and not chalky at all.

I think this is the best of the "synthetic pinks" and should be recommended as a "basic" colour as it makes much better oranges and purples than cadmium red.

Very nice colour that I still have to get accustomed to. It's a mixture of three pigments but when dry, it gives a beautiful lavender tone. I think I'll use it thin washes over greens or reds to tone them down or in floral paintings for example.

Very nice colour that I still have to get accustomed to. I believe it's a blue mixed with some white so the consistency maybe a bit more creamy (e.g. opaque) than W&N colours but you can use it in a nice glaze too.
