Holbein Artists' Gouache is made from finely ground pigments and delivers a consistent velvety matte finish. The pigments are selected for high-density saturation and the ability to mix freely without loss of brilliance, opacity, or hue value in combination with other colors. This opaque matte gouache is Japan’s foremost designers’ color medium.
Silky smooth with a high pigment load, the gouache delivers a velvety matte finish using naturally opaque pigments. Holbein adds no opaquing agents to their gouache colors. The colors have excellent lightfastness and will not darken or muddy when mixed.
Holbein Artists’ Gouache is perfect for layering. The colors will offer absolute opacity when laid one over the other, and they won't crack or bleed. However, the matte surface will be fragile, so scratching and rubbing should be avoided. A fixative or matte varnish will enhance surface strength but may change the surface color by increasing transparency.
It is also possible to mix Holbein Artists’ Gouache with Holbein watercolors, acrylic, or acrylic ink diluted for airbrush use.
Available in 89 opaque colors.
