Getting used to it

Until now I just had a couple colours from the Jackson's professional line and I could tell how overpowering they were in mixes. I have now acquired the entire set: burnt sienna, ultramarine blue, cad yellow... I find them harder to work with than the Winsor and Newton (Winton) I was working with... I like the texture of Jackson's, I guess I just need to get used to mix these colours properly. I find Jackson's burnt sienna less orange than W&N, not sure I like it more. Anyways, the opinion of a non expert. I'll give 5 stars because I trust the experts :-)

It is very white and I like that it is slow drying, giving me a chance to paint wet in wet, 2 or 3 days after application

Quite soft for a white, which makes me wonder how much PW4 has been added. Not sure I'll buy anymore.

This is the first time I have purchased oil paint from the Jackson's Professional range. For years I have been using Michael Harding and a few colours from Old Holland. I can honestly say this first tube of Cad Yellow is as good as either of those brands in terms of opacity. I find the Old Holland is a bit of a stiff (short) paint, the MH is less stiff while the Jackson's is the least stiff of the three. If you like a longer paint that is easy to brush with fine sable brushes then the Jackson's is a good choice. Hopefully all the other colours handle the same. The hue of the Jackson's Cad Yellow PY35 is a maybe a touch warmer than my MH PY35 while Old Holland is a PY37. I look forward now to trying colours from the rest of the Jackson's Professional range.

I've been comparing Jackson's professional series with Old Holland, W&N Artist and Vasari. Jackson's are very good value and well worth bing in your range of paints.

Not a colour that l use frequently but the first time l've used Jackson's own brand professional oil and the product description seems to be accurate

The more I use Jackson's Professional colours, the more I like them. This is a lovely smooth Cerulean. This Jackson's paint seems to go further than the W&N equivalent, so I am going to stick with it.

I'm giving this one an excellent rating because IMO it's a good price for the product. The colour is exactly where I think it should be, maybe a little oily but a great consistency and strong tinting strength.

I've given this one an excellent rating. Perhaps the paint is just a little more oily than I would have expected from this range of Jackson's own professional oil but super tinting strength and very good value for the money IMO.

Jackson's Oil Paint Cadmium Orange review

Have just put this orange paint on dull underpainting as a high light in a sunset next to a jackson titanium white and it is incredible, it is beautifully opaque with an intensity I rarely have seen in any other make! worth its price.
